Can the M-Pro7 BoreSnake be washed and reused?

The M-Pro7 BoreSnake can be washed by hand in the sink using M-Pro7 Gun Cleaner.  We have also heard of people putting the BoreSnake into a sock and throwing it into the washing machine.  The bristle brushes may tear other items in the machine.
